Dr. B R Aneja

Dr. B.R. Aneja was born in 1941 at Burewala (Pakistan). After partition in 1947, the family migrated to India. He did his M.A. in English in 1966. After a brief spell of service in 1966, in the Ministry of Finance, Central Secretariat, New Delhi, he joined G.G.D.S.D College, Palwal as Lecturer in English and retired as Head of the Department in 2001. He was awarded Teacher Fellowship by the UGC for three years (1976-79) for doing his Ph.D. The topic of his thesis was ‘Walt Whitman as a Poet of Cosmic Consciousness’.

Dr. Aneja acted as Chief Editor of the college magazine Uradhwagami for twenty years. He was assigned the task of Coordinator, Distance Education; was nominated as General Secretary of the college Staff Association, and as member Common Syllabi Committee of M. D. University, Rohtak and Kurukshetra University. He was elected Teacher Representative in the college Governing Body for the period 1991-94.

Apart from the teaching activities, Dr. Aneja has a keen interest in social activities. He has been President of the Residents’ Welfare Association of Kalra Colony for many years. He is a founder/life member and patron of Shri Gita Bhawan Trust (Regd.) Palwal, Haryana. The Trust organized numerous Eye Operation Camps, most of which were organized with the cooperation of R.P. Centre, AIIMS, New Delhi. The Eye Operation Camp organized under his presidentship, in Oct., 1992 was visited and  appreciated by a team of the World Bank and WHO officials. He also organized  several  Blood  Donation  Camps,   Naturopathy and Yoga Camps during his presidentship of the Trust. He started Anna Khetra (daily free food for the poor) at Gita Bhawan in 2001 which has been functioning till date.

Dr. Aneja has been an active member of Lions Club of Palwal since March, 1976. After holding various positions in the Club, he became President of the Club for the year  1987-88. He was awarded Extension Award No. 1 from International President, Judge Brian Stevenson in 1988. Under his leadership and guidance, several service projects were launched to help the down-trodden and the needy. He was nominated as Distt. Chairman many a time in the District 321- A1.

Dr. Aneja is an enthusiastic amateur astrologer and feels that like the medical science, astrology is also an important branch of science which needs to be understood in depth. He became Super Category Member of International Federation of Astrology and Spiritual Science (Haryana Chapter) in September, 2000. He also shares his interest in Theosophy. He joined the Theosophical Society, Noida Lodge in 2007. Later he founded a new Lodge of Theosophical Society at Palwal in Nov., 2008. He also founded a T.O.S. Lodge/Braham Vidya Sewa Sansthan in July, 2009 at Palwal.

He had the privilege of addressing an elite audience (Topic: Sustaining Hope And Happiness) at Mount Abu (Raj.) in June, 2012 and getting the blessings of Dadi Janki, Head, Brahma Kumaris University. Dr. Aneja has written many poems and articles in English and Hindi which have been published in various magazines. Now he desires to share  his  views  and  experiences  with the  wider world — hence this small step in that direction.
